When someone applies for a credit card from a credit card issuer, there is always an element of mystery involved in the process. Will you get approved, will you get denied, and why? My suggestion is that for BECU credit cards, take the mystery out of the process and instead just publish a simple set of issuing guidelines that would help anyone who knows what is on their credit report make a decision on if they should risk applying or not, as being denied credit damages your score. For example the guidelines could be as simple as: Minimum FICO score 620, max derogatory marks 2, minimum credit history 3 months, etc. This kind of simple, open source approval guidelines would save a lot of people a lot of hassle, risk, and potential damage to ones credit report.
